Adobe FrameMaker workshop

Would you like to get an overview of the functionality of the latest FrameMaker version and be able to work with FrameMaker confidently?

Would you like to work with ready-made templates and learn how to create your own simple templates? Do you know the basics of DTP, but are short on time and need to get information on the latest FrameMaker version, including the tricks of the professionals, as quickly as possible? Then this workshop is just right for you.

  • FrameMaker philosophy
  • Templates (document templates or styles) and documents
  • First steps: settings for the working environment, opening and saving documents, document formats, help system, etc.
  • Fundamentals: User interface, FrameMaker concept
  • Templates and page layout (body pages, master pages, reference pages)
  • FrameMaker catalogues
  • Text editing, paragraph styles, character styles
  • Spelling, search and replace
  • Table editing, table formats
  • File import
  • Graphics (anchored frames, graphics tools, importing of graphics, item styles)
  • Dynamic documents (variables, markers, hypertext, cross-references)
  • Basic information about books, content tables, indexes
  • Output options
  • Outlook: Conditional text
  • Outlook: Publishing in HTML5 and other online formats
  • Outlook: Transition to structured FrameMaker, DITA and others

The workshop is aimed at

(online) publishers and technical writers

Requirements:

Basic DTP skills are assumed
Good knowledge of other software (Word, QuarkXPress or InDesign)
Please note: Owing to the great scope of issues covered, the workshop is less suitable for newcomers to DTP.

Your own laptop
Already installed: FrameMaker 2013, 2015, 2017 or 2019
Exemplary data will be provided by email before the seminar.

The workshop lasts one to three days, depending on the scope of the training, the objectives and the extent of the practical exercises.
